JetBlue flies from Terminal 5 at JFK. If that is the whole question, you can stop reading here: check in at T5, and if you are connecting from another JFK terminal, ride the AirTrain, which is free between terminals and takes under 10 minutes.
Two other carriers use the same building. Alongside JetBlue, its flagship tenant, Terminal 5 is served by Cape Air and Sun Country Airlines. Everything below comes from the Port Authority's own terminal page and from JetBlue's announcements, because T5 is mid-rebuild and much of what you will read elsewhere is out of date.
Terminal 5 gates and walk times from security
T5 gates are numbered in the 500s, not 1–30. If a map or a blog still shows you “gate 12” at Terminal 5, it predates the renumbering. The Port Authority publishes walk times from the security checkpoint to each gate block:

BlueHouse, JetBlue's lounge at T5
JetBlue's first-ever airport lounge, BlueHouse, opened at Terminal 5 on 18 December 2025. It is a 9,000-square-foot, two-level space, and in 2026 it was voted the number one airport lounge in Newsweek's Readers' Choice Awards.
The practical details:
- Where: across from gate 526.
- Hours: 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
- Who gets in free: Mosaic 4 members, JetBlue Premier Cardmembers, and transatlantic Mint travellers — entry from up to 3 hours before an eligible flight. Blue Basic bookings are excluded.
- Food and drink: bites curated by Union Square Events, with coffee and cocktails from New York names including Joe Coffee, The Greats of Craft and Please Don't Tell.
Note what that list does not say: BlueHouse is not a pay-at-the-door lounge for anyone holding a boarding pass. If you are flying JetBlue on a Blue Basic fare, or flying Cape Air or Sun Country, it is not available to you — see lounges at JFK for what else you can reach across the airport, including options that take a day pass or a credit-card membership.
The T5 Rooftop & Wooftop Lounge
T5 has something very few airport terminals offer: a post-security outdoor deck, with power outlets and a dog walk. It is open daily, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., across from gate 528.
Because it sits past the checkpoint, you can use it on a long layover without re-clearing security. If you are travelling with a dog, that is a real reason to prefer a JFK connection through T5 over one through another terminal.
Dining and shops: why there is no list here
Terminal 5 is being rebuilt while it keeps operating. The Port Authority's page asks travellers to “pardon the dust”, says the work runs to full completion in 2026, and promises 40+ new shops and dining options plus a T5 Marketplace — park-style seating, greenery and natural light.
That is exactly why a named, gate-by-gate restaurant list is worth less than nothing right now: outlets are opening, closing and relocating through the construction phase, so a list that was correct last quarter will send you to a hoarding. Getting to and from Terminal 5
There is a live change to ride-app pickups. The Port Authority advises that ride app pick-up for Terminal 5 has temporarily moved to the Howard Beach AirTrain station because of construction at JFK. If you order an Uber or Lyft expecting a kerbside meet at T5, that is not currently how it works — you take the AirTrain to Howard Beach first. AirTrain JFK is the backbone for everything else:
- Free between terminals, and under 10 minutes terminal to terminal.
- $8.75 one way to Jamaica or Howard Beach, where you connect to the subway, the Long Island Rail Road and local buses.
- Trains every 5–15 minutes.
- Children under 5 travel free. A group of up to five pays $8.75 for the first rider and $4.50 for each additional one. With OMNY there is a rolling 30-day fare cap of $43.50.
- Long-term parking connects at Lefferts Boulevard station; rental cars and hotel shuttles at Federal Circle.

The TWA Hotel is attached to T5
JFK's only on-airport hotel connects directly to Terminal 5 through Eero Saarinen's flight tubes, with his landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center as its centrepiece. You can walk to it from T5 without leaving the airport, and the mid-century architecture and aviation artefacts sit pre-security, so they are open to you whether or not you are flying that day. Accessibility at Terminal 5
Arrange assistance in advance, and arrange it with your airline rather than with the terminal — including wheelchair assistance. JetBlue publishes its own Accessibility Services information for passengers travelling with a wheelchair, a service animal or a medical condition. If you are flying Cape Air or Sun Country out of T5, contact that airline directly; JetBlue's arrangements do not cover you.
