JFK Airport’s Parking Options

In addition, roadside assistance services (such as tire change and battery jump-starts) are offered on-site.

New York Airport Short-Term Parking Lots

JFK Airport Long-Term Parking

For overnight or multi-day stays, travelers should use the Long-Term Parking Lot 9 (Economy Parking), located near Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain Station, approximately 4 miles (6.5 km) from the terminals. The AirTrain offers a free 10-minute ride from Lot 9 to all terminals.

Important: Vehicles parked longer than 30 days must be registered with ABM Parking Services on the day of arrival. This applies to both short-term and long-term facilities.

Drop-off and Pick-up Areas at JFK

Stopping directly in front of terminal entrances is strictly prohibited for private vehicles — only taxis and authorized transport can load or unload passengers there. Instead, travelers have three alternatives:

  1. Terminal Parking Lots: Park close to your terminal (subject to the regular hourly fee) for maximum convenience.
  2. Cell Phone Lots: Two free waiting areas are available — one on Van Wyck Expressway (373 spaces) and another on JFK Expressway (127 spaces). Drivers must remain inside their vehicles at all times.
  3. Kiss & Fly Zone: Located at Lefferts Boulevard Station, this area allows for quick, comfortable farewells before passengers take the AirTrain to their departure terminal.

Tip: The West Cell Phone Lot includes 10 EV charging stations for electric vehicles.

Accessible Parking for Persons with Reduced Mobility

All JFK parking facilities include designated accessible parking spaces located near the entrances. Both short-term and long-term lots provide reduced rates for passengers with mobility permits or official disabled license plates. Proper documentation must be displayed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to park at JFK Airport?

Short-term parking in terminal lots costs around US$4–$6 per 30 minutes, capped at approximately US$39–$45 per day. The economy long-term Lot 9 at Lefferts Boulevard costs around US$29 per 24 hours and is the most affordable on-airport option for multi-day stays.

Where is the cheapest parking at JFK?

Economy Lot 9 (Lefferts Boulevard) is the cheapest official JFK parking at about US$29 per day. Off-airport lots near the airport can be even cheaper, often US$10–$18 per day with a free shuttle to the terminals — compare prices online before you travel.

Can I park overnight at JFK Airport?

Yes. JFK's parking lots operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overnight parking is charged at the daily rate. For trips longer than two or three days, Lot 9 or an off-airport lot is far more economical than a terminal parking garage.

What is the difference between short-term and long-term parking at JFK?

Short-term lots are located directly outside each terminal for quick drop-offs and pick-ups; they are priced by the hour and expensive for multi-day stays. Long-term Lot 9 is further from the terminals (connected by the free AirTrain) and charges a flat daily rate suited to trips of two or more days.

Is there free parking at JFK Airport?

There is no free parking in official JFK lots. However, Cell Phone Lots near each terminal are free for a limited waiting period while you wait for an arriving passenger. All other official parking is paid.
